빵 나눠 먹는 사이 company

우리나라에는 원래 빵이 없었다.

(그래서 성경에는 떡이라고 했고..)

When we speak of 'a certain company,'

we don't think of a body of men sitting down and partaking of bread together,

but in its original sense, that is precisely what the word company indicated.

- 우리가 '어떤 회사'를 말할 때, 우리는 사람들이 모여 빵을 먹는
(혹은 나누는) 모습을 생각하지 않는다 -


It, and its associated word, companion, though originating in France,

were derived from the Latin con, together, and panis, bread,

thus conveying the notion of friendship so true as to share bread, each with the other.

- 그러나 그것 (company)과 프랑스어에서 온 companion (동료)라는 말
모두 Latin어의 con (함께)라는 접두어와 panis (빵)이라는 말의 합
성다. 물론 친구사이에 빵을 나눠 먹는다는 뜻을 내포하는 것이고...-

And the derived word, accompany─from the Latin ad, to, plus company─

had the original meaning, to go along with one and share bread together.

- 또한 동행한다, 동반하다는 말의 acompany (이 낱말도 라틴어의
ad - 영어의 to 에다가 company 를 합한 것으로 함께하다 빵을
나눈다는 뜻으로 쓰이게 되었다 -

 

그래서일까..?!

남자가 여인에게 접근할 때

'차 한 잔 해요," 아니면 '식사 함께 하실래요,"라면서

동료 의식을 가지려고 한다.

빵을 나눠 먹는 것이 company  이고

한문에서도 '식구'는 食 (빵) 나눠 먹는 구 (口 / 입)'을 가리킨다.

동서양을 막록하고

함께 먹는 것이 중요한 모양이다.
